LAUNDERED SHIRTS
Laundered Shirts are significantly cheaper than Dry Clean shirts because they are washed with water, as opposed to using a special cleaning fluid (and machinery) that is expensive. Next, these laundered shirts fit a standard size pressing machine that semi-automates the pressing process which means less labor is involved. The standard size shirt is an average sized men's button down, orford, or dress shirt; this as opposed to a smaller women's or child sized shirt. Nevertheless, extra large shirts (like really large) can be pressed on this semi-automate machine, but still needs hand touch up since the shirts are so big and are charged extra. These laundered shirts are not rich in color and generally business dress colors, e.g. white, oxford blue, light pink, pin strips. They are not solid black, red, orange, dark green, dark blue or rich colors that tend to bleed, or lose their color with water over time. Last, why do we have this semi-automated pressing for these shirts? Because we get lots and lots of these shirts.
DRY CLEAN SHIRTS
Shirts that are Dry Cleaned are done so to help keep the color fresh. This, as opposed to laundering with water, e.g. jeans that lose their color or stone washed jeans. Dry Clean Shirts can have rich colors that are solid black, red, orange, dark green, dark blue or any rich colors that may bleed or lose their color with water over time just like you see with blue jeans. Dry Cleaning also helps reduce the shrinkage you see with water and jeans(or shirts). Third, Dry Cleaing Shirts also receives more hand pressing, as opposed to machine pressed, which requires more labor. These shirts can also include some women's sized shirts which are significantly smaller and cannot fit on the semi-automated pressing machine. Women's Blouses also are done this way since they may not fit on the semi-automated pressing machine. Moreover, many woman's blouses (silk and other delicate materials) cannot handle the high heat of this same semi-automated pressing machine.
PULLOVER SHIRTS, POLO SHIRTS (WRINKLE FREE)
These shirts are typically dry cleaned (or hand washed since they can be delicate). They again, cannot fit on the semi-automated pressing machine used for laundry shirts and require hand pressing. Nevertheless, we are working on semi-automating this process with a different machine that could lower the cost to between a laundered shirt and a dry clean shirt. While we don't when this will be implemented, please ask about this process as we know many customers are sensitive to the Dry Clean pricing of these pullover and Polo type shirts. Letting management and the owners know about how you feel about this special type of pullover and polo shirt, and how many you would bring in on a repeated basis, helps in future planning. |
